MSc(Eng) in Structural Engineering
 
Introduction
The MSc(Eng) programme in Civil Engineering was a postgraduate programme introduced by the Department of Civil Engineering in the 1970's to provide advanced education in various fields of Civil Engineering. To cater for the increasing demand for further specialisation, the programme has gradually been replaced by individual MSc(Eng) programmes since 1998. The MSc(Eng) programme in Structural Engineering has been offered since 2002 to cater for the increasing demand for engineers with advanced education in Structural Engineering.
 
     
Admission
Applicants for admission should have a Bachelor's degree from The University of Hong Kong in Civil Engineering or related fields; or an equivalent qualification from another comparable university or institution.

Mode of Attendance
Part-time/Full-time (PT: 2-3 years; FT: 1-2 years); lectures of most courses will usually be given on weekday evenings and on Saturdays; lectures of some courses may also be given on Sundays; lectures of a few courses may be given during daytime of weekdays to suit mainly full-time students.

Recognition
This programme is accredited by ICE, IStructE and IHT as meeting the requirements for Further Learning for a Chartered Engineer under the provisions of UK-SPEC for intakes 2002-2020, for candidates that have already acquired a CEng accredited BEng(Hons) undergraduate first degree.
