Chaoyang Bridge朝陽橋

In July 2012, Project Mingde received a request from Yingdong Village (英洞村) to reconstruct a footbridge. The existing footbridge was built many years ago and it has been severely damaged by rain and storms over the past years. There is a primary school situated at one side of the bridge and nearly half of the students need to go to school using this footbridge. Due to the bad condition of the bridge, when there is a heavy rain, classes will be suspended since only half of the students are able to go to school. With the donation on the construction costs from JWDA, an architectural firm in Shanghai, the project team started the feasibility study of the reconstruction work of the footbridge in August 2012.

The project team had their first visit to Yingdong Village in September 2012 to investigate the site conditions and constraints. Project Mingde is fortunate to receive financial support from the Lee Hysan Foundation and Gallant Ho Experiential Learning Centre to cover the travelling and lodging expenses of the students and supervisors to the site. The project was completed in June 2013.
