Dr. Ting Fong May Chui is currently an associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering of The University of Hong Kong.  She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College and completed her M.S. and Ph.D. studies at Stanford University, both in the U.S. She joined National University of Singapore as an assistant professor before moving back to Hong Kong, her hometown, in 2013.

Her general research fields are hydrology and sustainable water resources engineering. In particular, she has contributed to the sustainable management of stormwater and groundwater. She has also facilitated the conservation of wetlands and rivers in the face of urbanization and advanced our understanding of the interactions between surface water, groundwater and ecology. Further, she has developed various innovative numerical modeling techniques for coupled hydrological and ecological processes.

She has been an executive committee member of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research Asia and Pacific Regional Division (IAHR-APD) since 2015 and the secretary of IAHR’s Hong Kong Chapter since 2014. She was an associate editor of Hydrogeology Journal from 2014 to January 2018.
