Mingde Pan Community and Cultural Centre 明德慈昐文化中心

In early 2012, a young couple invited Project Mingde to involve in the design and construction of a school building at Dabao Village (大保屯) in Guangxi Province (廣西). The village is situated at the remote mountainous area of the northern part of Rong Shui county (融水縣) in Guangxi. There are about 100 families in the village and all of them are of the ethnic minority group of Yao (瑤族).

The young couple is not only the donor for the construction costs, but also the architects of the project. After detailed discussion and consideration and for the benefit of the villagers in the long run, the project team proposed to construct a building which will serve as a school, and also as a community and cultural centre. The project team had their first site visit in May 2012 to gather relevant information for the design and construction of the building. The travelling and lodging expenses incurred by the students and supervisors are generously sponsored by the Lee Hysan Foundation and Gallant Ho Experiential Learning Centre.

Upon completion, the centre will consist of two classrooms, a library, a staff room / bedroom, a kitchen, an outdoor basketball court and an external environmental-friendly toilet. It will serve to host community events during the festivals of the ethnic minority group of Yao, e.g. "良雙鬧魚節" and "盤王節". The project was completed in October 2015.
