Introduction:

The Subcommission for Tubular Structures XV-E of the International Institute of Welding (IIW) has decided that the 13th International Symposium on Tubular Structures (ISTS 13) will be hosted by The University of Hong Kong. In the past, 12 International Symposia have been successfully held in Boston, U.S.A. (1984), Tokyo, Japan (1986), Lappeenranta, Finland (1989), Delft, The Netherlands (1991), Nottingham, U.K. (1993), Melbourne, Australia (1994), Miskolc, Hungary (1996), Singapore (1998), Düsseldorf, Germany (2001), Madrid, Spain (2003), Québec, Canada (2006) and Shanghai, China (2008).

The 13th International Symposium will take place in Hong Kong, from December 15 to 17, 2010. This Symposium is considered the principal showcase for tubular structures and the prime international forum for discussion of research, developments and applications in this field. The conference would be of interest to manufacturers of hollow sections or related construction products, architects, trade associations, design engineers, steel fabricators, owners or developers of tubular structures, researchers, academics and postgraduate students.

The Proceedings of the Symposium will be published in a single-volume, hard-bound book. The Proceeding will also be provided on CD. All abstracts, papers and oral presentations are required to be in English.
